The publisher L'ecole des Loisirs published a number of BABAR books during this time period. No doubt a limited edition poster, no edition number stated, this poster was printed on heavy paper and distributed at an ABA trade show. A wonderful and vivid image of the beloved Babar, with limited text. Well suited for framing, a poster that would grace any child's bedroom for years to come. Poster, clay paper. [23⅞ x 16⅜ inches] A ½-inch tear at top not affecting text. Minor abrasions to bottom left. Some general light creases. Very good. Poster announcing a rally to protest the clearing out of vacant apartment buildings near the Berlin Wall. As the physical wall was dismantled and disappeared, vacant apartments next to the no-man's-land of the wall in East Berlin had been occupied, "squatted," by artists, punks, dissidents, and gays; young people with a liberal stance and creative energy. Offi cial clearing of the building by the police was often abetted by neo-nazi and fascist parties who participated in the harassment of the squatters.All posters are presently stored between acid free boards, flat, under weight. USSR propaganda posterEvery child in the USSR heard about the distant Chilean people suffering under the Pinochet junta. The USSR led the international campaign for the release of Luis Carvalan and since 1975 has been negotiating on this topic. In September 1976, the option to exchange Korvalan for the famous Soviet political prisoner, dissident Vladimir Bukovsky was officially announced simultaneously by the Danish Committee of the Sakharov Readings in Copenhagen and by Academician Andrei Sakharov himself in Moscow. On December 15, the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU adopted a decision "On measures in connection with the release of Comrade L. Korvalan", in accordance with which a special aircraft was allocated to deliver Korvalan and his family from Zurich, where the exchange was planned, to the USSR. Unknown: Unknown, Unknown. Poster. This poster features the peroration of then-Prime Minister Winston S. Churchills first speech to the U.S. Congress on 26 December 1941, weeks after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and Americas formal entry into the Second World War. It was after this speech, immediately following the peroration printed on this poster, that the assembled elected leadership of the United States erupted into a cacophonous roar of applause and approval. The poster measures 24 x 18 inches (60.96 x 45.72 cm). The excerpt from Churchills speech is printed in seven lines: I avow my hope and faith, | sure and inviolate, that in the | days to come the British and | American peoples will, for their | own safety and for the good of | all, walk together in majesty, in | justice and in peace. Paris: Imprimerie S. A. Courbet, 1980. Poster featuring the famous 'Normandie' liner. This appears to be a 1980's re-issue of the print. This was produced (originally circa 1950) in response to the advancing popularity of airlines for transcontinental travel. The image of the ship emphasizes stability, safety, comfort, style and luxury. A beautiful ocean liner as indicated by the enormous proportions of the ship. Featuring the French national colours, and the liner's huge, imposing bow dominates this striking image. 1000 x 610 mm (39¼ x 24 inches). The poster is signed in the plate on the lower right. Paul Colin (1892 - 1985) was one of France's greatest poster artists. Famous for his 1925 poster for the Revue Nègre, which helped launch the career of Josephine Baker (who also became his mistress). Colin is considered a master of modern school or poster art, and created more than 1400 posters, many theatrical sets and also costume designs. Newsmap was a poster/newspaper issued weekly during World War II by the U.S. War Department to military installations and government and civic groups working on War Department projects. Issues generally contained one or more maps as well as reports of recent military actions. This issue features a dramatic, full-sheet map of the world with countries color-coded by their affiliation and with the locations at which U.S. troops were stationed. The reverse side of the Newsmap features a half-sheet world map which has been annotated with recent significant events, such as, "RAF Bombs Berlin, Interrupts Anniversary," "American Subs Sink Six More Jap Ships," and "Battle for Stalingrad Ends in Soviet Victory." In addition, there are summary reports of activities at ten fronts.

Helsinki: Pathe Exchange, 1925. 1st Edition 1st Printing. No Binding. Good. A Finnish cinema poster for the 1924 silent-movie Leatherstocking, based on the novel by James Fenimore Cooper. The poster is actually for a double bill, including the 11-reel feature The Leather Pushers starring Reginald Denny (1923). The main feature premiered in Helsinki on December 3rd, 1924 and this poster is for the screening that took place at the Lyyra Cinema, Helsinki, from 19th January to the 26th January, 1925. Cinema posters in this era were normally commissioned by cinemas themselves, in this instance the Lyyra (established 1915). Measures approximately 15 x 21.5 inches. In bold titles at the lower half of the poster it reads (in Finnish and Swedish), "Leatherstocking is one of those rare serial films that have been shown to full houses for 2 weeks in a row in different theatres in Helsinki". A superb cinema-used Finnish movie poster for the 1961 motor-racing film The Green Helmet starring Bill Travers and Ed Begley with Jack Brabham in a supporting role (as himself). The poster is a standard-sized Finnish A2 measuring approximately 23.5 inches x 15.5 inches. Full-bleed, printed by Fotopaino Oy of Helsinki and artist-initialled in the plate. In fabulous used condition - there is one pinhole at each bottom corner, a further one at top left and then three at top right. No nicks or tears to the edges. Minor handling creases to corners.
