Hollywood: Universum Film [UFA] / Paramount Pictures, 1927. Original advertising herald for the US release of the 1927 film, a shortened 115-minute version re-cut by American playwright Channing Pollock, who is credited on the herald. Interestingly, the herald credits the film as joint production of Paramount and UFA, just prior to the formation of the larger umbrella production company Parufamet, which included UFA, Paramount, and MGM. 4.5 x 6 inches folded, 8.75 x 6 inches unfolded. London: X3 Posters RARE exhibition poster, no date, circa 1982- 1990 ( possibly 1989, the numbers 8 an 9 printed on the hands lower left), by Ken Meharg and Bob Linney, who ran the poster operation for Birmingham Arts Laboratory or Arts Lab, an experimental arts centre in Birmingham, until 1982. Posters from that era were featured in an international touring exhibition by the British Council between 1981 and 1985, and were the subject of an exhibition by Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery in 1998. RARE lithograph wall chart for the device called the "Structural Differential" which Alfred Korzybski patented in 1925 as a means to aid in visualizing the process he called "abstracting". This was to be used as a training device in general semantics, a field of study Korzybski is credited with founding. The chart is Near Fine, rubbed lower right, mounted on two stained wooden dowels with ribbon hanger 18" wide by 38" high. Korzybski's work in semantics heavily influenced science fiction authors such as A.E. Van Vogt, Robert A. Heinlein, Poul Anderson, and H. Beam Piper, as well as L. Ron Hubbard and Joseph W. Campbell.
