This book is in very good condition. There is minimal to no wear on the front, back and spine of the cover boards. There is no wear on the edges and some slight bumping on the top of the spine corners.The previous owners name is written on the inside of the front cover board and his stamp is affixed ro the front end page. This book is in good condition. The cover has some light wear and the corners are definitely worn. The previous owner's name is written on the inside of the front cover and his seal is affixed to the front cover. The pages are clear of any markings crisp and white. Cornelius Nepos was a 1st-century BC Roman author whose works have mostly all been lost. However, his one surviving work is "Excellentium Imperatorum Vitae" which is a collection of biographical descriptions of Roman and foreign leaders. According to Roberts, this work details
"Roman kings, generals, lawyers, orators, poets, historians, and philosophers."

This rare 1675 printing is a rare edition by Hackiana, features an added, engraved title page, and is bound in impressive vellum.

Pope Gregory I was one of the most important figures of the establishment and growth of the Catholic Church. He wrote several important works on his views of the church, sacraments, purgatory and heaven, antichrist, miracles, heresies, and much more. His book 'Regula Pastoralis' or 'Pastoral Care', is a work clearly explaining and describing the responsibilities of the clergy. It is often considered the most influential and important work written on the topic of the role of preachers and ecclesiastical fathers.

This impressive 16th-century edition of the works of Pope Gregory was published at the Vatican in 1588 during the papacy of Sixtus V.

--- An introduction to Greek philosophy, published anonymously but known to be written by Caroline Frances Cornwallis (1786-1858). She was born in Wittersham, Kent. She devoted herself to scholarship and learned many languages. After a brief residence in Italy she returned to Kent and lived in Goudhurst. Cornwallis wrote the majority of the titles in Pickering's "Small Books on Great Subjects" and later made a name for herself as an advocate of women's emancipation, including the debate on married women's legal rights.
