Reading: Gedruckt fur Charles M’Williams, 1820. Hardcover. See Description. First American Edition. 12mo. 142p. With a dramatic woodcut frontispiece depicting the Anti-Christ as a seven headed dragon. Re-bound in quarter calf with marbled boards preserving the original calf spine. Title page shows age-toning, soiling and staining; a small darker spot of staining is present near the upper corner. The inside margin of the frontispiece is carefully restored with some spots of loss to the inner black border-line of the illustration. End papers are stained; notations in an early hand are scrawled on the front free end paper. Interior pages contain light age toning, scattered marginal foxing, soiling and wear. A German mystic named Christian Armbruster penned this apocalyptic work (first published in Germany in either 1813 or 1814). The author predicts the immanent end of days by comparing current events at that time – i.e. the rise of the Emperor Napoleon – to the prophecies in the Book of… Read More

Description:
1854 1ed Spirit Manifestations Occult Psychology Mesmerism Druids Mediums Dods
John Bovee Dods was a 19th-century philosopher known for his studies and beliefs in spiritualism and mesmerism. One of his best works was 'Spirit Manifestations Examined and Explained' – a series of his lectures on his experiences in the supernatural and spiritual world. Dods claims that the phenomena of the spirit world, while genuine and real, is a result of 'electrical psychology' (a term related to animal magnetism coined by Dods himself).
More specifically in these lectures, Dods covers:
·
Involuntary movements and instincts in humans
·
Communications of mediums
·
Authenticity of the Bible, concerning spiritualism
·
Habits and pagan acts by ancient tribes – Druids, Romans, Greeks, etc.

Description:
1698 Zodiacus Vitae EXISTENCE of ANGELS Occult Demons Zodiac Palingenius BANNED

Marcellus Palingenius was a 16th-century Neapolitan poet who is primarily known for his book 'Zodiacus Vitae'. When Palingenius first published this book in the 1530s, he penned the name Pier Angelo Manzolli as the author as he (correctly) anticipated that would become one of the many books to be banned by the Catholic Church during the Inquisition on the Prohibited Books Index.
'Zodiacus Vitae' was written to articulate the sources of human happiness as it pertains to metaphysics. Though, in doing so, Palingenius managed to attack the traditions of the church – not just the Catholic Church and the popes – but also the theology of Martin Luther. Each of the twelve sections represents one of the zodiac signs each of which contain fascinating discussions. For example, in the seventh book, Palingenius "argues for the existence of angels" and demons! (Beckwith)

Description:
A very nice first edition of Carrington's book, with DJ and rare thus. Hereward Carrington was one of the UK's most well known researchers into psychic and related phenomena. Here, he recounts some of his strangest experiences during his long career, and includes encounters with Aleister Crowley, among others. Book is VG+/VG. Pages are excellent: bright, crisp, clean with no apparent markings or inscriptions and no staining or creasing. Just a slight tanning on FEPs and age related dusting and slight spotting on top edges, but really lovely. Boards are clean and tight. There is a slight 'give' or 'lean' to the spine but not affecting the overall integrity of the book. DJ is unclipped and intact: a previous owner has covered it in a form plastic tape-wrapper. This is not a removable covering, however neither is it attached to the book, only to the wrapper itself for protection. And the DJ itself is clearly in a very good state: unclipped and with just some minor shelf wear and minimal impacts. Overall… Read More

First edition/Facsimile. Hardcover (Original Cloth). This book was opened more to list it on this site than in the rest of its existance. The Binding is such that the pages open as if in a new book. I purchased it in 2009 and it has been on my book shelf ever since. There is no evidence of any wear except that the dust jacket has some slight waves or creases.
"The years, of which I have spoken to you, when I pursued the inner images, were the most important time of my life. Everything else is to be derived from this. It began at that time, and the later details hardly matter anymore. My entire life consisted in elaborating what had burst forth from the unconscious and flooded me like an enigmatic stream and threatened to break me. That was the stuff and material for more than only one life. Everything later was merely the outer classification, the scientific elaboration, and the integration into life. But the numinous beginning, which contained everything, was then." Carl Jung in 1957, referring to… Read More
