Moderate foxing on inside of front and back covers and some foxing throughout text, mostly on photo plates. Deckle edges show the brown coloring of age. First volume has statement "only 250 copies of this Volume are printed on Large Paper, of which this is No. 146" with the 146 handwritten in ink. Vol. II doesn't have this statement; Vols. III through VIII & "Pepysiana" show the printed statement but no number.

Inside boards, endpages and foredges also marbled. Boards show substantial edgewear. Spines are worn - four of the volumes have chips out and are partially detahched on one side. Hinges intact but fragile. pages are tanned with nage, no foxing, a couple of volumes have foredge stains. Text is clean and unmarked.
