Internally very good subject to top margin fairly closely cropped but no impact on lettering, inoffensive water staining noticeable on a fair proportion of the leaves. Owners bookplate , with signature, late 19th cent, on inside front cover. The book has been rebacked with new endpapers; front of what looks to be the original spine retained. The boards, which look to be contemporary, are sound.

Edizione ampliata e corretta di opera della più grande rarità. Manca pressochè a tutta la bibliografia consultata compreso adams, Bm. Stc., Mira, Lozzi, Choix, Graesse e Brunet. Sander n° 6975 cita una edizione stampata a Messina nel 1529. Il Census nazionale Iccu registra solo 4 copie esistenti nelle biblioteche italiane. In late 17th-century England, numerous Protestant and Anglican ministers began publishing books in response to the Great (minister) Ejection Act of 1662. David Clarkson and Welsh minister Henry Maurice were two such names. Maurice's "Defence of Diocesan Episcopacy" was a direct response to Clarkson's "Primitive Episcopacy" both of which argued over which powers and jurisdictions bishops should have.

1756 Forensic Mathematics German Polack Civil LAW Property Lawsuit RARE Mathesis

Johann Friedrich Polack was an 18th-century German law scholar and mathematician, best-remembered for his work 'Mathesis Forensis'. Also known as 'Forensic Mathematics' (1734), this work is one of the earliest treatises to push for the use of math when making legal decisions. Polack noted specific cases – bankruptcy suits, inheritance cases, surveying and land ownership, property disputes, interest gains, etc.
This 1756 German edition was published in Leipzig and features numerous in-text charts and folding tables.

Willem Nieupoort, a 17th-century Dutch historian, wrote 'Rituum' as a supplement to traditional Roman antiquarian studies. He outlined various aspects of Roman orders including the establishment of Rome and the Roman Senate, the offices of religious priests, liturgical rites, and the importance of games and amphitheater entertainments. There is also an important section focused on the Roman army as well as a section on the private lives of Romans, exploring their clothing, customs, coins, and celebrations.
Nieupoort was a well-known and respected jurist of his time, thus much of his perspective in this work involves Roman law. He acknowledges the importance of Cicero, Plato, and other philosophers, but also mentions the Roman focus on mythology.
