Lacks folding portrait of Prince of Nassau (often omitted), Plate 18 misbound at page 50. Some staining from former damp most evident to early leaves & at end of book but hardly affecting the plates. *Most luxurious of the Dutch Phaedrus editions specially made for the Prince of Nassau (Lamb Annales Phaedriani 96, Cohen-deRicci 797-9, Landwehr 247).

Jean de La Fontaine was the most famous French fabulist and one of the most widely read French poets of the 17th century.According to Flaubert, he was the only French poet to understand and master the texture of the French language before Hugo. A set of postage stamps celebrating La Fontaine and the Fables was issued by France in 1995. A film of his life was released in France in April 2007 (Jean de La Fontaine - le défi starring Laurent Deutsch).

A story about a young girl called Cecilia who visits the clerk of the weather with her imaginary brothers Tibbs and Kiddiwee. They visit the Castles of the Four Winds, the Himalayas and the Blarney Stone. Large octavo, coloured frontispiece, 11 coloured plates, 13 black & white plates, 6 drawings in text; original boards.

This is a handsome, fine binding vintage copy of "The Complete Works of LEWIS CARROLL" with original illustrations by John Tenniel. United Art Publishing, 1916. Hardcover. Used- Good condition. Book shows shelf wear. Scuffing along the edges and corners of book. Tear on the left middle side (next to the spine). Blotches of slightly darkened stains on the back cover. Writing on the front end-paper. Tear on the top and bottom of the end-paper up against the binding. All pages are intact. No further markings on the inside of the book. The envelope that originally held the stamps is no longer in the book. All 72 stamps are affixed to the corresponding spaces. Top edge of text block coated grey. The dust jacket has very light edge wear, and a very small loss at the spine's foot. The text signatures remain largely unopened. A handsome copy in scarce, surprisingly intact and fresh dust jacket. This title marks the first appearance of Winnie The Pooh, in the poem on page 85, The Teddy Bear (albeit unnamed).

Willy Pogany. 192pp. Violet cloth, gilt lettering and decoration, color llustrated endpapers. Cover nearly unworn, spine is faded and lettering barely readable, several small holes in front endpaper evidently from bookplate removal, inscription on verso, text is mildly age-toned but clean and unmarked, binding is tight. Scarce dust jacket is missing a 2 1/2 inch piece from lower spine and several smaller pieces from top edge. Wonderful pen and ink drawings by Pogany throughout text.

Macmillan's "Peoples Edition" in green cloth, with an illustration of Alice and Humpty Dumpty on the front cover, whose colors have mostly worn off. "Sixteenth thousand" appears on the The pages are clear, without tears of Marks (except for a signature and date and some shadowing on the first fly-leaf page). The covers have very slight shelf wear, except for some chipping at the top and bottom of the spine. However it does show rubbing and spotting.Following the numbered pages this edition includes teh poem, "Christmas Greeting," a listing of other works by Carroll and a hand-written specimen page from the manuscript that became Alice in Wonderland.
