Published in the third year of the reign of Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI, the same year in which he passed the "pragmatic sanction," whereby one of his daughters could inherit the crown. The author, Count Bernhard von Zech, was the Director of Protocol at the electoral conclave. A few pages toned; slight worming to end blanks; spot on title; else fine in vellum. Only two copies in OCLC.

Textblock only, covers and spine missing; untrimmed at head, tail and fore edges; most all leaves unopened at head edge; all leaves supple and clean; some foxing on plates and tissue-guards; closed tear at leaf 167/168 foredge into text, text all legible; textblock remains fairly tightly bound by the bands, but somewhat fragile; easily readable. Missing 1 portrait (of Spanish King and Family, 1808); missing 1 medallion illustration (of Danzig Delivered, 1807); and missing 2 maps. All text pages present. 13 x 11 cm. 334 pp.

Heilbronn. Hardcover. Very good . Cloth binding with string (broken). About 11 x 8 5/8 inches. 18 leaves, many with glassine interleaves. Some photographs are loose. The subject of this old family photograph album is not identified, but from internal evidence--inscriptions on the backs of the photographs--he appears to have been Karl Rieger who was born about 1905 in the German city of Heilbronn. The photographs show him as a young man with friends as he and they take walking and youth hostelling trips together. Later in preparation for joining the Luftwaffe he learns to fly gliders. Then he is seen in uniform and at his base, including in the dormitory with his fellow airmen. The base may have been near Munich because there are pictures of that city too. Finally, there are very poignant scenes of a funeral, for apparently he has been killed in action. Johann Angelius Werdenhagen was a 17th-century German philosopher whose failed attempts at becoming a syndic in the Hanseatic League in Hamburg resulted in his now famous history of the Hanseatic League. The Hanseatic League was a German economic community designed to provide structure to merchants and markets across Europe. However, because of his Christian-based writings and Jakob Bohme influence, Werdenhagen became heavily criticized and excluded from the Hamburg Hansa.
