1678 CRUSADES Tasso MINIATURE Jerusalem Delivered Italian Gerusalemme Liberata

"All he regarded; but in Syria most,
He mark'd the leaders of the Christian host:
That eye, whose penetrating glances dart
To each deep secret of the human heart"
– Torquato Tasso, Jerusalem Delivered, canto I

Originally written in 1575, Torquato Tasso's famous "Jerusalem Delivered" tells a mythical story of the First Crusade complete with Christian Knights battling Muslim warriors.

This 1678 edition is a very rare, miniature 17th-century printing of Torquato Tasso's 'Jerusalem Delivered' with 10 illustrated plates by Sébastien Le Clerc and an engraved half-title.

Description:
1650 1ed Execution Charles I Defensio Regia Saumaise French Royalist Civil War

Claude Saumaise was a 17th-century French scholar known for his editions and commentary of classical works and Greek anthologies. However, he also published a defense of Charles I of England following his execution. Curiously, Saumaise's 'Defensio Regia' takes on a thoroughly royalist agenda, even from a Frenchman, and Charles II even helped publish the book. This book even inspired John Milton who published his own piece of political propaganda that covered the events of Charles I and II.

Description:
1681 English Civil WAR 1ed Dugdale Troubles in England French Wars of Religion

William Dugdale was 17th-century English historian known for his works of antiquity of English aristocracy and monastics. While not his most notable work, 'Troubles in England'
is a treatise written to describe the wars that influenced Europe and England during the 17th-century. Dugdale correlates three wars – English Civil War, Barons' War, and the French Wars of Religion – and how they related to each other. Interestingly, the DNB notes that this work was "written throughout in a strain of animosity to all who took the anti-royalist side." However, this work isnotable for its accuracy.
