Garton & Co. London. 1992. FIRST EDITION. Large 8vo. (11 X 8.5 inches). LIMITED EDITION. One of only 50 copies. Original wood engraving (again one of just 50, numbered and initialled by the printer) in a pocket inside the rear board. Illustrated with a mono photo portrait of Drury for the frontispiece and 94 reproductions of his prints. Also included with the book is an amendment to the catalogue which was issued as 6 stapled A4 sheets and featuring revisions by Alan D. Guest. A fine copy in a fine dustwrapper. ----- Paul Drury was at the centre of the revival of the pastoral tradition at Goldsmith's College in the 1920's, along with Robin Tanner, Graham Sutherland, Bouverie Hoyton & William Larkins, among others, rejecting the plein air tradition of etching which was prevalent at the time. The limited edition wood-engraving that is included with the book is of particular importance, being one of the earliest works by any of the Goldsmiths' group that can really be described as pastoral.

[Berlin]: Edition Galerie auf Zeit, [1997].. Folio (46 x 34.5 cm). Pictorial cloth. Illustrated throughout. About fine in faintly handsoiled white slipcase. First edition in this format, the text rendered in script, and accompanied by illustrations, all as screenprints, by Klaus Zylla. One of 103 numbered copies, signed by the author and the artist. Additionally, each full-page illustration has been signed by the artist in the margin. Laid in is a poster, a press release and an invitation related to publication of the book. Affixed to the blank opposite the justification page is a full color photograph (215 x 152 mm) of actor Ben Becker reading from the book at the publisher's gallery, and a small clipped notice of that occasion - a publication party for the book.

[Zurich: The Artist, 2 November 1984].. ca. 150 leaves, in ink, on rectos only. Bound notebook (165 x 105 mm). Cloth and boards. Text stock pale yellow, ruled in blue and red. Fine. An original artist's book by Hartmann, signed, titled and dated by him on the rear pastedown. Each leaf bears an arrangement (sometimes occupying most of the page, sometimes a portion of it) of Hartmann's characteristic symbols (including recurrent stylized fish). A number of the individual leaves are dated in September demonstrating that Hartmann's work on this undertaking spanned a number of weeks. Laid in is a photo postcard of the artist. [Dijon]: Art & Art, [1988].. Stiff printed wrappers, paper label (21 x 14 cm). Fine. First edition. One of 300 numbered copies on verge d'Arches, from a total edition of 320. An illuminated color alphabet executed by the famed French installation artist, published under the auspices of the "Association pour la diffusion de l'art contemporain."

[New York: The Artist, 1989].. Folding, multipanel screen, in three major components (35.5 x 16 x 9 cm folded). Enclosed in gilt decorated linen chemise and slipcase with side panels decorated with color paste-paper collages, with inserted multipanel folding hand-painted construction of corrugated and cloth to "fill" in the slipcase. A unique book object, signed and dated by the artist on the slipcase. The structure is constructed from bookboard, paper and cloth folding panels, which are supported by metal- reinforced stilts. Fashioned in sections allowing for different permutations of arrangement, the screen unfolds to a length of over 75 cm, and adjoined panels fold upward revealing collages that include photographs, photocopies and other materials. The monoprints were made by Karel Martens between 2014 and 2016, reproduced at actual size (except for two 'numbers' prints). It is available in two different cover versions which is the result of a printing experiment by printing all the content of the book in 3 layers on one print sheet, which was cut and folded into two different covers. 48 pp. 24 x 17 cm. .

Black cloth spine, black and white printed boards, with a lenticular (hologram-like) black and silver illustration glued to the front board. Near fine. Issued without dust jacket, clear archival jacket supplied. Pop-ups, fold-outs, attached items and black-and-white photographs. Balloon has melted and fused two pages, also slightly coloring adjacent pages. Tear-out sheet is gone, all other objects are present and in fine condition: a pop-up castle, a fold-out accordion, a pop-up airplane, spring-mounted Chelsea Girls disc, a dodecahedron paper sculpture, Lou Reed flexi-disc is detached but is present, Rainbow nose with overlays, a pop-up Hunt's Tomato Paste can.

O'Meally writes that the heroes in the collages are sympathetic to The African American experience. This is not the run of the mill coffee table book. This is a serious study of a truly significant artist/thinker. It is a beautifully put together book and exhibition.
