Los Gatos, California: The Talisman Press, 1960. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Fair/Poor. Newton Baird [title-page]. Inscribed by the author on the front endpaper "for Linda {"Miss _______" in many a good class} Prof. William Stafford". I could not quite make out the last name in the inscription, early signature by Stafford. Boards covered in patterned dark blue, white and red paper printed by Robert Greenwood, with a black linen spine, paper label on spine with title, Mimbres-style blue and orange leaping fish on title-page, off white dust jacket printed in red and black, price on front flap $5.00, one of 350 hardbound copies, Pirie A3. Clean unmarked copy, solid binding, very nice. Description:
Brethren Publishing House, 1947. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good-/Good. Signed. Laid in is a bookplate SIGNED by William Stafford. There is an inscription on the front endpaper "Edward K. Ziegler with congratulations from Maude and Warren Ziegler". This possibly could have been a gift to Edward Ziegler when selected for one of his posts with the Church of the Brethren. The volume is spine sunned, bumped on the spine ends and corners and there is a small stain near the base of the front panel. The unclipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, has a mildly sunned and spotted (water?) spine, and is edge rubbed with shallow chips. Rhe jacket has some light soiling and stains, and the front flap is detached, held in place by the mylar sleeve.
